Jordan joins Blades

Left-back Stephen Jordan has finally put pen to paper on a one year deal with Sheffield United having previously looked set to sign for Crystal Palace and then Portsmouth. Jordan was released by the Clarets at the end of last season after three years at Turf Moor and there were suggestions early in the summer that he was having talks with Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell. The talks appeared to come to nothing and with the appointment of George Burley as Crystal Palace manager he joined them for pre-season training and looked as though he might sign a contract with them. Then came a switch to Portsmouth where he answered an eleventh hour call from Steve Cotterill to go on their trip to America. After doing well it looked as though he could be one of the three players they would be allowed to sign a week or so before the season got underway. All of a sudden it took another twist with news that he was back at Bramall Lane having talks. They were concluded and he had his medical but they couldn't get the paperwork through in time for him to be involved yesterday in their draw at Cardiff. However, they have now confirmed that he's signed for them on a one year deal.
