Jordan back at North End

Former left back Stephen Jordan, released by Sheffield United before the end of last season, is currently back on trial with Preston North End and played last night for them against Morecambe. He signed as one-year deal with the Blades ahead of last season but fell out of favour when Micky Adams became manager in late December. A loan at Huddersfield followed before his contract was terminated by mutual consent. At that point he had a trial with Preston and played in their reserve team against the Clarets at Turf Moor on the night they clinched the totesport.com League. All had gone quiet, with no news of any club, but he lined up at left back for North End last night at Morecambe in a young side that included three other trialists, one of whom was former Preston goalkeeper David Lucas. Jordan spent three years at Turf Moor. He signed in the summer of 2007, making a hurried debut in a pre-season game at Wrexham. He replaced Jon Harley in the left back position initially but in his second season had competition from new signing Christian Kalvenes. Injury ended his 2008/09 season early, as it did the following season, by which time Danny Fox had arrived and become first choice at left back. That led to him being released by then manager Brian Laws in the summer of 2010.
