Joe Jackson agrees new deal

Striker Joe Jackson, one of the players out of contract, has signed a new deal that will keep him with the Clarets for another season.

Joe was a prolific scorer in the youth team and earned his first professional contract last summer. He spent some of last season back in his home town of Barrow playing in the Blue Square Premier League but returned in time to make his first team bow in the 4-0 defeat at Blackpool, coming on as a sub for Junior Stanislas.

He earned himself a new deal and on his return to training today he's signed for another year and that adds to the news we brought earlier in the week of Shay McCartan having signed.

It leaves three players out of contract. They are goalkeepers Brian Jensen and Jon Stewart and forward Alex MacDonald. All three were offered new deals, believed to be for one season, and the club are awaiting their decisions.
