    Jensen refuses to give up

    21 Apr 2010 - 12:04:25

Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen is refusing to give up on their Premier League survival chances, despite the Clarets sitting in a precarious position near the foot of the table.

The Turf Moor-based outfit are currently four points adrift of West Ham United, who sit just outside the bottom three and a return to the Championship could be hastened if results go against them this weekend.

Brian Laws' men face a daunting clash against Liverpool on Sunday but, with the Reds taking on Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semi-final first leg just 72-hours earlier, Jensen is hoping they can cash in on the Merseysiders' fatigue after their gruelling trip to Spain.

Liverpool also have the return leg at Anfield on April 29 to look forward to and, with their top-four challenge all but over this term, manager Rafael Benitez may opt to rest a few of his first-team players.

Speaking to Onside.dk, Jensen said: "We can go down on Sunday if West Ham win against Wigan and we lose against Liverpool.

"We fight to the end. We know we must win on Sunday, but we also know that it will not be easy.

"We might hope that Liverpool rest a few players because they are thinking of the Europa League semi-finals. It will be difficult, but mathematically it is still possible.

"All great players want to play in the best league and we would of course be happy staying there."
