Jay Rod - Top man at the Palace
Burnley turned in a poor performance last Saturday at Selhurst Park, going down 2-1 to Crystal Palace and the individual ratings certainly reflect that disappointing performance. The man of the match vote was one of the lowest on record in terms of number of votes and also one of the lowest in terms of the percentage of the vote taken by the winner. Again, as it had been in the Burton game, it was Jay Rodriguez who on this occasion won only 16.7% of the vote. Just behind in second place were the right hand side of our team, both Kieran Trippier and Ross Wallace collecting 15.1% each. It was Jay once more in the player ratings where only four players scored above the average performance mark of 6, and then not by much. Jay's rating was 6.29 out of 10 and that was enough to give him first place whilst central defender Andre Amougou and goalkeeper Lee Grant, who had no chance with the goals, came in joint second with ratings of 6.21 out of 10. Wade Elliott was fourth in both the man of the match vote and the player ratings and his rating of 6.07 out of 10 was the other just above the average. That all gives Jay Rod another six point maximum towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year with Trippier, Wallace, Amougou and Grant all winning two points. That means Jay has not gone above Trippier to the top of the table after the first three games of the season.
