Jackson leads the way on loan watch

Burnley currently have six players out on loan and all but one of them have been in action today with Joe Jackson again amongst the goals for Barrow in their first Blue Square Premier League win of the season. Second goal of the season for Joe Jackson

Barrow started the day third from bottom but have lifted themselves one place having won 3-1 at Tamworth with Joe Jackson, who scored in their 2-2 draw against Grimsby in midweek, getting the first and his second goal of the season.

Joe has played in all eight of their games this season, with five starts, and, alongside him at Barrow, Tom Anderson has started all eight games in the centre of defence.

Tom's central defensive partner in the youth team last season was Alex Coleman and he got his first competitive football of the season today when he made his debut for Droylsden in the Blue Square North just a day after joining them on loan.

It wasn't quite as successful a day for Alex. He played the full 90 minutes on his debut but Droylsden suffered a 3-1 home defeat against Solihull Moors.

Another non-league winner was goalkeeper Jon Stewart. He's back at Alfreton where he enjoyed a loan last season and today he kept a clean sheet in an unexpected 3-0 win at home against a Luton side that would have gone top with a win. The win has helped Alfreton up to 14th in the table.

The remaining Burnley player in loan action this afternoon was Alex MacDonald. He made his second loan debut for Plymouth as a substitute last week but today was in the starting line up.

He played on the left hand side for Argyle and played the full ninety minutes as they earned an away point in the Devon derby against Torquay at Plainmoor.

That just leaves Kevin Long who is three weeks into a four week loan at Portsmouth. They will feature in one of tomorrow's live games on Sky at Crawley and, if selected, it will be Long's first league appearance since he was sent off at Carlisle two weeks ago.
