It's the 1970s - more players added

23 June 2011 10:50
The players who debuted for Burnley in the 1970s have now been added to the player pages, alongside those from the 40s, 50s, and 60s, bringing the total online to 174. It's a further 48 players, starting with former England goalkeeper Tony Waiters, who made his Burnley bow on the opening day of the 1970/71 season, through to Brian Laws whose first game for Burnley was the last game of the 1979/80 season at Watford. Of those new players, profiles have been written for 15 of them, including a new profile for Terry Cochrane which can also be found on the front page of the site. The other 14, where profiles had previously been written, are for Paul Fletcher, Billy Hamilton, Billy Ingham, Joe Jakub, Leighton James, Brian Laws, Tony Morley, Colin Morris, Keith Newton, Peter Noble, Vince Overson, Gerry Peyton, Alan Stevenson and Mike Summerbee. Next week will see the return of the pages for the 1980s players, but football changed in that decade, certainly for Burnley, with more players coming and going. That means we'll be introducing them in two stages with the first ones early next week featuring players who made their debuts during the seasons 1980/81 to 1984/85 inclusive. Thanks to those of you who have been able to help so far with our request for further information, photographs of those players without one, and should you wish to write a profile for one of those players without then we'd be delighted to hear from you. Just EMAIL us. The Past/Present Players feature can be found via the Players drop down menu.
