It's quality for Howe

Burnley are still to make their first summer signing but that now appears to be just around the corner as manager Eddie Howe confirms that he's ready to bring some players in during the next week. Burnley fielded 22 players in yesterday's friendly at Altrincham but will want to have his squad complete, or close to it, by the time they set off for the South West next weekend. He's confirmed that he's not looking to bring in a lot of players but when he does make his move that it will be a case of quality, not quantity. "We need to strengthen the squad and that's what we're looking to do next week," he said yesterday. "We know the areas we want to strengthen and we certainly hope to do that sooner rather than later because we need to get people embedded into how we want to play. "I don't think we need to bring in a load. I just want quality in certain areas to make us a better team." Meanwhile it looks almost certain that goalkeeper Jon Stewart will be joining the Clarets as third choice goalkeeper. Howe signed him last summer to take him from Weymouth to Bournemouth but he left in April after a disciplinary issue. Howe said: "We know John from our time at Bournemouth. He hasn't had a lot of first-team action in terms of professional games but he's someone we really like. He would come in with a view to being our No.3 because I think we need one."
