It's Goal of the Month time

31 October 2012 09:54
The next three days will give you the opportunity to vote for Burnley's Goal of the Month for October, and it is almost like Charlie Austin time as he dominates with six of the ten goals on offer. September winner Charlie Austin

I don't think any player has ever dominated such a vote since Martin Paterson scored all but one of our goals in August 2008 and yet he didn't win the vote with the one remaining goal from Chris McCann coming first.

It could happen again, but looking at the month, it started with Charlie's hat trick against Sheffield Wednesday when he three times gave us the lead only to see Wednesday come back on all three occasions, twice within a minute.

Then it was off to Crystal Palace when again three goals weren't enough to give us victory, this time not even a point. McCann got the first, Paterson took us into a 2-0 lead but by the time Austin got his goal it was a mere consolation in a 4-3 defeat.

Austin's next goal was no consolation, heading home the only goal of the televised game against Blackpool and he also claimed the next one when he gave us the lead at Bristol City from a McCann through ball.

The second, not included in the vote, came from the penalty spot, but further goals came from Paterson and that late, late winner from McCann.

Unfortunately there were no goals in the last game of the month at Cardiff.

That's ten to choose from - six from Austin, and two each from McCann and Paterson.

The winning goal will be guaranteed a place in the Goal of the Season vote in May joining Dean Marney's strike at Port Vale and Austin's goal against Millwall which won the August and September votes respectively.

As always you can vote from the front page or the VOTING POLLS page and the vote will run until the end of Friday.
