It's Barnet in the cup

11 August 2011 23:00
Barnet are set to make their third visit to Turf Moor after the draw tonight for the second round of the Carling Cup paired them with the Clarets. Promoted to the Football League for the first time in 1991 they were beaten 3-0 at Burnley in their inaugural league season and then, two years later, returned to be beaten 5-0 with Tony Philliskirk grabbing a hat trick. Our only game against them since came in the FA Cup in our 1999/2000 season when a Paul Cook goal gave us a 1-0 win to start us off on a cup run that saw that fantastic win against Derby at Pride Park. Those are the only three seasons Burnley and Barnet have played each other, and all three seasons ended in Burnley winning promotion. Now, with Barnet boss Lawrie Sanchez making the draw, along with Trevor Francis, they come to Turf Moor with the game to be played in week commencing 22nd August. The full Carling Cup Draw is Millwall v Morecambe Blackburn v Sheffield Wednesday  Bury v Leicester West Ham or Aldershot v Carlisle Bournemouth v West Brom Crystal Palace or Crawley v Wigan Peterborough v Middlesbrough Aston Villa v Hereford Bristol City or Swindon v Southampton Exeter v Liverpool Everton v Sheffield United Brighton v Sunderland Shrewsbury v Swansea Reading or Charlton v Preston Norwich v Milton Keynes Franchise Northampton v Wolves Wycombe v Nottingham Forest Bolton v Macclesfield Burnley v Barnet Scunthorpe v Newcastle Leyton Orient v Watford or Bristol Rovers Doncaster v Leeds Cardiff v Huddersfield Queens Park Rangers v Rochdale
