It was Burnley all the way for me
After the news yesterday of Chris McCann's injury there was some good news early today with the confirmation that Jack Cork was returning to Burnley on loan. The news came from the club not much after 9:00 a.m. and by that time Cork was already in the area ready for his first training session with the Clarets since the end of last season. There were a number of clubs keen to take the midfielder but with Burnley one of them it was always Turf Moor where he wanted to spend the season. "I could see there weren't going to be too many chances for me at Chelsea this year so hopefully I can come here and get a few games, do well and hopefully get this team, that looks like it should do really well, back into the Premier League," Cork said on his return."When I was told I was going on loan there were a couple of clubs interested, but really it was Burnley all the way for me. I found it really easy to settle in here last year. Sometimes you go to clubs and it's hard to settle in and you find some of the lads harder to get along with, but it was easy to come here. It's a friendly place and I really enjoyed my time."I am grateful to the manager for giving me my chance in the Premier League and I thought I might as well try and help everyone get back up there."I know it's the Championship but it is a very good league. A lot of the players here could play in the Premier League and the quality that Burnley have got here is not far off a Premier League team because it's basically the same squad we had last year."I know if we play as well as we did at times when I was here last season then we will have no problems reaching our goal of getting back there. Hopefully with the experienced players we have got here we will be able to get the mix right and push on."I am looking forward to another debut and fighting for my place. Hopefully I will get my chance and I will do well when I get given it."Brian Laws was a happy man to get Cork back to Burnley. "I'm absolutely delighted to get Jack back to the club," he said. "He's a good quality player, he's hungry and he's a great lad in and around the club."There have been a lot of clubs courting him this summer so the fact we have got him and the timing of it couldn't have been better."Jack had a great time in the Premier League and wanted to have another pop at that, but we knew that he enjoyed his time here and that would be the main ingredient for him to come back here."Even though there were a lot of clubs asking to try and get him, he had a great experience with us last year and shows that was something that was right for him. He enjoyed his spell here and will hopefully enjoy it in the future. "Jack's at an age where there's even more to come and we want a piece of that."Cork has been given the number six shirt vacated by former club captain Steven Caldwell.
