It was Chris Eagles' day at Pride Park
We came from behind twice to win 4-2 at Derby last Saturday and the player who scored the first two goals, Chris Eagles, was voted our best player in both the man of the match and in the player ratings. I wouldn't think it happens very often that a player misses a penalty in a game and still comes out as the best player, but the spot kick miss was a rare blemish in an excellent Eagles performance and he even recovered from that to convert the rebound.Such was the all round performance from the team that he only just won both. He polled 32.8% of the man of the match vote but that only narrowly beat Chris McCann who polled 32.4% in his first game of the season on his return from injury.Fellow midfielder Jack Cork was third with 12.4% of the vote and it was the same three players who went on to take the points in the player ratings.Again Eagles came out on top with a rating of 9.33 out of 10 and that's beaten the season's best which was the 9.14 rating won by Lee Grant in the previous away win to this one at Hull.Cork was second this time and his rating beat Grant's too; Cork getting 9.24 whilst McCann had to settle for third place this time with a rating of 8.52 out of 10.Eagles wins the maximum six points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year, with both Cork and McCann getting three points.
