The 34-year-old could make his Houston debut this weekend if he agrees his release from Burnley in time.
He told the Dynamo website: "I was looking for a change.
"I am a winner, and I know a lot of people will point to my age, but I feel comfortable with it. I know I have a couple more good years in me."
