Howieson joins Flynn at Doncaster

Cameron Howieson, who this week got a call up for the New Zealand under-20 squad is now on his way to Doncaster Rovers having agreed a loan deal with them until the end of the season.

He's gone on a youth loan immediately and will return to Doncaster after the Oceania Football Confederation Championship in Fiji next month.

Manager Sean Dyche, who said recently that he wanted to get some of his young players out on loan, has now seen Howieson added to Shay McCartan, Steven Hewitt and Tom Anderson who all joined Blue Square Premier League clubs recently.

He said today: "I think it will be a really good one for him. Brian Flynn is someone local and someone I know and respect and I spoke to him recently about Cammie.

"It will be a great experience for him, on and off the pitch, being at a different club with a different regime which are all the things that go into the melting pot of a young professional earning their spurs.

"I am interested in all the young players getting as much chance to be around first team football as much as possible at whatever level we deem appropriate.

Howieson becomes the second Burnley player to join a League One club on a youth loan, following George Porter who is enjoying some first team football at Colchester.

On arriving at the Keepmoat, Howieson said: "I got the call this morning. It was a bit late notice, but it's good to be here now and I'm looking forward to it.

"It's my first loan move out so it's a big experience for me. I will take it day by day and hopefully I will get some good experience from this. Doncaster at the top of the table are doing really well. I want to help them push on and get to the Championship.

"I've got to take every game as it comes and do the best I possibly can."
