Howe upset to lose scrappy affair

Burnley manager Eddie Howe felt hard done by after seeing his side succumb to a 1-0 defeat at Doncaster. Michael Duff's second-half own goal at the Keepmoat Stadium proved decisive in an npower Championship clash which neither side dominated. The Northern Irishman's mishap ended the Clarets' five-match unbeaten run and saw Howe taste defeat for the first time as manager of the Lancashire outfit. And the former Bournemouth boss was clearly frustrated by the result. "I think probably in the second half I don't really remember Granty (goalkeeper Lee Grant) having anything to do apart from picking the ball out of the back of the net," he bemoaned. "The goal was just one of those things that happens in football. I don't think we deserved to lose, but I don't think we could say we deserved to win either." He added: "I don't think either side can really say they were well on top. We tried to sweep things to try and get control of the game but found it difficult. There was a congested midfield - not a lot of space to play in - so it turned into a bit of a scrap."
