The Clarets' 10-goal top scorer only arrived at Turf Moor from Wolves in the summer but Howe's recruitment of Swindon frontman Charlie Austin has raised doubts over Iwelumo's future.
Howe said: "Chris has done really well for us. We have a really good array of strikers now and I guess it will just be a case of how people react to perhaps not playing as much as they want to.
"I know there is interest in Chris, as you would expect because of the number of goals he has scored again this year.
"We will have to wait and see what happens in the next few days."
