Howe considering loan swoop

Burnley boss Eddie Howe is considering moving into the loan market as he bids to bolster his promotion-chasing squad. Striker Steven Thompson has undergone surgery on a groin problem and looks set to be out of contention until next month. With Martin Paterson sidelined with a thigh injury and youngster Wes Fletcher nursing an ankle knock, Howe has seen his attacking options vastly reduced. The Clarets boss said: "The loan market is an option we are having a look at. "We want to bring the right one in, which is a challenge in itself. At this stage of the season there are not usually many available. "Any that are have gone out by now but we are keeping an ear to the ground and we will see what we can find."
