Bradford Park Avenue beat Bradford City 3-1 last night to take the Tom Banks Memorial Trophy, a trophy that until 1974 was presented to the winners in Football League contests.

Jordan Deacey, recently linked with a move to Burnley, scored Park Avenue's third to clinch the win but the main interest for Burnley supporters was the player wearing the number eleven shirt for City for the first 65 minutes of the game.

Named by A Trialist by Bradford City, it was Zavon Hines who was released recently by the Clarets and had a trial cut short by Swindon last week due to his poor fitness levels.

Observers at the Horsfall Stadium report that he impressed until he was substituted on 65 minutes by Adam Baker and he might have done enough to impress manager Phil Parkinson as he looks for a new club ahead of the season.

There is no news, as yet, on any of the other former Clarets looking for new clubs, other than Dominic Knowles not getting an offer from York City.

Manager Gary Mills said: "I have released Dominic Knowles. I thought long and hard about it because he did well in little spells but I've decided against offering him a contract."
