Gudjonsson signs for Terriers
Former Burnley midfielder Joey Gudjonsson has today signed a two year deal with League Two club Huddersfield Town. Gudjonsson recently had his Burnley contract terminated early, and that came after a suspension from the club following his outburst on an Icelandic web site. But he's now returned just a few miles down the road with Huddersfield as their manager Lee Clark looks to strengthen his squad after they failed in the semi-finals of the League One play offs.Clark said today: "Joey is very energetic and plays with a real intensity. He's a box-to-box player who is very competitive. He can play at the level we want to reach and has great experience of both Premiership and Championship football in this country. That experience is vital, but he also still as the desire to be successful."I know we have beaten Championship clubs to his signature, which shows that word is getting around about how ambitious we are and that we are doing things in the right way. It's a bit of a coup that we haven't had to pay a transfer fee for a lad of his quality."Gudjonsson signed for Burnley in a £150,000 deal from AZ Alkmaar in January 2007 but was never able to fully establish himself in the first team during his three and a half years at Turf Moor.
