Grant stars at Hull

Burnley's 1-0 win at Hull last Tuesday was one very much based on an excellent defensive display and an inspired goalkeeping performance behind them so it is no surprise to see Lee Grant winning the man of the match. Grant made one top save in the first half but came into his own after the break with a series of outstanding saves as Hull threatened to get back into the game. It was, without doubt, his best performance for Burnley. That performance won him a 45.3% share in the man of the match vote and that was well ahead of central defender Michael Duff who seems to enjoy playing at the KC Stadium. Duff picked up 26.1% and there was a 13.4% share for Nathan Delfouneso, who scored the only goal of the game on his debut, giving him third place. There was no difference in the player ratings but the gap between Grant and Duff in the first two places couldn't have been closer. Grant's rating of 9.14 out of 10 won it but Duff was right behind with a rating of 9.13.They were a considerable distance ahead of the rest and it was Delfouneso again who came in third with a rating of 7.86 out of 10, just beating Clarke Carlisle who also had an outstanding game. The man of the match percentages and the player ratings per player are now shown below and will continue to be for future games. The man of the match vote is currently underway for the Millwall game. That will run until the end of tomorrow and will immediately be followed by the Coventry game.Man of the Match Result45.3% - Lee Grant26.1% - Michael Duff13.4% - Nathan Delfouneso4.4% - Jack Cork3.0% - Jay Rodriguez2.1% - Clarke Carlisle1.7% - Dean Marney1.5% - Danny Fox1.2% - Chris Eagles0.9% - Ross Wallace0.6% - Tyrone MearsPlayer Ratings9.14 - Lee Grant9.13 - Michael Duff7.86 - Nathan Delfouneso7.85 - Clarke Carlisle7.14 - Tyrone Mears7.07 - Dean Marney7.00 - Jack Cork & Dean Marney6.86 - Jay Rodriguez & Ross Wallace5.14 - Chris EaglesClarets Mad Player of the Year Table96: Jack Cork74: Chris Eagles38: Jay Rodriguez36: Andre Bikey & Tyrone Mears31: Clarke Carlisle & Lee Grant25: Wade Elliott24: Michael Duff18: Dean Marney16: Danny Fox14: Chris Iwelumo12: Ross Wallace11: Brian Jensen9: Brian Easton6: Martin Paterson3: Leon Cort, John Guidetti & Steven Thompson2: Nathan Delfouneso1: Graham Alexander & Charlie Austin
