Good weekend for top six in late shows

Burnley found themselves making little impact on the top six, despite the win at Watford, with Cardiff, Norwich, Swansea and Leeds all winning whilst QPR and Nottingham Forest shared the points yesterday. It was a late call for some of them. Cardiff had been expected to steamroller Scunthorpe but only won it with a Seyi Olofinjana goal five minutes from time although that goal was earlier than the winners for two of their rivals. It was deep into stoppage time when Norwich grabbed their winner against Reading through captain Grant Holt and it was the same up at Middlesbrough as Swansea's Craig Beattie completed a comeback from 3-1 to win it 4-3 for the Welsh club.Leeds, masters of late winning goals, were the only one of those four high winners to secure the points early in the game. That left QPR and Nottingham Forest who drew with each other yesterday with Forest having to battle with ten men for three quarters of the game.So it's very much a case of as you were at the top. Leicester, who won at Derby in the evening kick off, are now the closest to the top six but sit four points behind them whilst we are next and a further two points behind. There's been no change down at the bottom with Sheffield United the only one of the clubs currently in the bottom six to get a point. That was another game with a late goal as Millwall scored in stoppage time to grab a point.Only Coventry and Portsmouth of the teams in the bottom half were winners. For Pompey it brought an end to a run of ten games without a win, a run that must surely have had manager Steve Cotterill being reminded of Burnley 2006/07.That game ended with him and his old Bournemouth mate Sean O'Driscoll having a touchline spat. They are good friends and both said afterwards that it was something and nothing. This midweek we've got some re-arranged games to look at, and that includes Burnley's first ever visit to the new Cardiff City Stadium. There are four games on Tuesday and one on Wednesday. The weekend results and stats are below along with the league's leading goalscorers, each club's disciplinary record and the midweek fixtures. The Weekend ResultsSaturday 12th FebruaryBarnsley 1 Ipswich 1Hull 1 Preston 0Bristol City 0 Leeds 2Middlesbrough 3 Swansea 4Cardiff 1 Scunthorpe 0Norwich 2 Reading 1Coventry 2 Crystal Palace 1Sheffield United 1 Millwall 1Derby 0 Leicester 2Watford 1 Burnley 3Doncaster 0 Portsmouth 2.Sunday 13th FebruaryQPR 1 Nottingham Forest 1.The Weekend StatsBiggest winBurnley 3-1 v Watford (away)Leeds 2-0 v Bristol City (away)Leicester 2-0 v Derby (away)Portsmouth 2-0 v Doncaster (away)Total goals scored31 (13 home - 18 away)Player scoring most goalsno player scored more than one goalHighest Attendance26,142 - Derby v LeicesterLowest Attendance10,288 - Doncaster v PortsmouthTotal Yellow Cards30Total Red Cards3Most cards in a gameDoncaster v Portsmouth (4Y 1R) - Andy HainesQPR v Nottingham Forest (4Y 1R) - Mark ClattenburgThe leading scorers (league only)16Danny Graham (Watford) - includes 1 penalty15Jay Bothroyd (Cardiff)14Adel Taarabt (QPR) - includes 5 penalties13Luciano Becchio (Leeds)Kriss Commons (Derby) - includes 2 penaltiesAndy King (Leicester)12Grant Holt (Norwich)Shane Long (Reading) - includes 4 penaltiesBilly Sharp (Doncaster) - includes 4 penaltiesScott Sinclair (Swansea) - includes 4 penalties11Chris Iwelumo (Burnley)Lewis McGugan (Nottingham Forest) - includes 2 penaltiesSteve Morison (Millwall) - includes 1 penalty10Max Gradel (Leeds) - including 1 penaltyDavide Somma (Leeds)Marvin Sordell (Watford)9Jamie Mackie (QPR)Brett Pitman (Bristol City) - includes 3 penaltiesHat Tricks (league only)11th Sep3 - Chris Iwelumo - BURNLEY v Preston14th Sep3 - James Coppinger - DONCASTER v Norwich14th Sep3 - James Vaughan - CRYSTAL PALACE v Portsmouth28th Sep3 - Jon Parkin - Leeds v PRESTON30th Oct3 - Jonny Howson - Scunthorpe v LEEDS13th Nov3 - Luciano Becchio - LEEDS v Bristol City27th Nov3 - Grant Holt - NORWICH v Leeds28th Dec3 - Wes Hoolahan - NORWICH v Sheffield United1st Jan3 - Jason Puncheon - MILLWALL v Crystal Palace5th Feb3 - Matt Fryatt - Scunthorpe v HULLDisciplinary Record (all domestic games)ClubYRClubYRBarnsley442Middlesbrough421Bristol City442Millwall464Burnley574Norwich523Cardiff391Nottingham Forest431Coventry483Portsmouth556Crystal Palace555Preston645Derby542QPR515Doncaster383Reading474Hull582Scunthorpe322Ipswich494Sheffield United487Leeds622Swansea522Leicester362Watford320The Next FixturesTuesday 15th FebruaryCardiff v BurnleySheffield United v ReadingDoncaster v IpswichWatford v PrestonWednesday 16th FebruaryScunthorpe v Nottingham Forest.
