Ginger Mourinho is Manager of the Month
Congratulations to Sean Dyche who has just landed his first ever Manager of the Month Award as Burnley manager after guiding us to the brink of top place in the Championship during the month of September.
Up against Gianfranco Zola, Nigel Pearson and Steve Lomas he went one better than last month when he missed out to Paul Ince, the Blackpool manager, having been nominated.
He's won it this time in a month when, after drawing the home match against fierce rivals Blackburn, the Clarets then went on to record league wins against Birmingham, Leeds and Charlton alongside a Capital One Cup win against Nottingham Forest that has taken us into the fourth round.
Chairman of the judging panel, former Charlton and West Ham manager Alan Curbishley, said: Burnley's fantastic start to the 2013/14 campaign in the Sky Bet Championship has continued into September by recording 10 points from a possible 12.
"Their fine performances have moved Dyche's men into an automatic promotion place and they are very much the form team in the division."
To add to that, Paul Wiggins, the Sky Bet Head of Football, said: "Burnley have done remarkably well with the loss of Charlie Austin this season. And that is in no small part down to the spirit Sean Dyche has within the camp.
"With some shrewd additions the Clarets are performing well above many people's expectations so far this season."
Dyche was thrilled with the award but was quick to praise others. "I am delighted because an award like this recognises the work down by the staff, the players, the fans and the town," he said.
"This is recognition to all concerned and I value that. Obviously it is a personal accolade, but I know it is way beyond that because there is so much hard work that goes on here.
"I think it is nice for all concerned and I accept it gladly, but I do so on behalf of everyone connected with Burnley Football Club and the staff and the players for sure."
Unfortunately Jason Shackell wasn't able to make it a Burnley double. That award went to Ipswich's David McGoldrick who scored four goals during the month of September.
