We had to suffer the appalling Oliver Langford on Tuesday at Doncaster as he refereed Burnley for the first time, and today his fellow West Midlands referee Phil Gibbs will be getting his first Burnley game. Gibbs is in his third season as a Football League referee and he got his first Championship game in January of that season with Preston's visit to Swansea.Today's game will be his fifth in the Championship this season out of a total of 21 games. In those games he's given out a total of sixty yellow cards and two red cards. Of those yellow cards, 26 have gone to home team players and 34 to away team players. The two red cards came in the same game, Torquay's 3-1 home win against Morecambe in League Two. Morecambe were reduced to ten men after just nine minutes when Andy Parrish was sent off and ended the game with just nine players on the pitch when Chris Shuker also saw red.Gibbs' last game was last Saturday and a League Two game between Gillingham and Aldershot which Gillingham won 2-1. Three players were yellow carded; John Nutter of Gillingham and Aldershot's Anthony Charles and Danny Hylton. The assistant referees are Steven Copeland (Merseyside) and Mark Griffiths (South Yorkshire). The fourth official is Michael Salisbury (Lancashire).
