Gabor leads Clarets and ex-Clarets in internationals

Gabor Kiraly won his 74th cap for Hungary tonight when he lined up in goal against England in a friendly international at Wembley. It was Gabor's third appearance against England, having played against them in Budapest in 1999 and again at Old Trafford in 2006. Tonight he did well but was eventually beaten twice by Liverpool's Steven Gerrard after the Hungarians had initially gone in front. He'd been in the international wilderness during his time at Burnley but this is his fourth cap since signing for TSV 1860 M√ľnchen last summer. Two of the home countries fielded both a current Claret and a former Claret, but those players were also on the losing sides. Martin Paterson started for Northern Ireland for his first cap in almost a year. He was on the right hand side of a three, a similar role to the one he's been playing at Burnley, with ex-Claret Kyle Lafferty up front in a friendly away to Montenegro. Both were substituted, Paterson being replaced by Corry Evans at half time as the Irish fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat. In Stockholm, Steven Fletcher was in Scotland's starting line up. They too suffered a defeat, losing 3-0 against Sweden. He was replaced by Kris Boyd on 64 minutes whilst Chris Iwelumo won his third cap, coming on as a substitute for Barry Robson with 12 minutes left. The only good news was Cameroon's 3-0 win in Poland. Andre Bikey was used as a substitute in this game, coming on for Nicolas Nkoulu after 63 minutes. All the international pages have been updated - click HERE to visit the feature.
