Fourth Burnley game for referee Scott

Oxfordshire referee Graham Scott will referee Burnley for a fourth time tomorrow at Ipswich having previously refereed away games against Reading, Coventry and Brighton, one in each of the last three seasons.

He's managed to show 18 cards in those three games but that's nothing exceptional for this referee; since joining the Football League for the 2008/09 season he's never been shy to use them and in previous seasons it has tended to be the away teams hit more than the home teams.

Looking back at this three previous Burnley games and 11 of the 17 yellow cards have gone to our players although the one red card he's shown in those games helped us come from behind to win.

That was at Coventry two seasons ago when, with Coventry 1-0 up, he sent off their young midfielder Gael Bigirimana after which goals from Ross Wallace and Charlie Austin turned the game on its head.

Even so, and with two of the three games he's refereed lost, he's still managed to secure a RATE THE REF rating of 66.73 out of 100 and a 27th place in the table.

This season, in seven games, he's clocked up 26 yellow cards of which, against his usual pattern, 16 have gone to home team players and just ten to away team players.

He's also sent off five players. He upset Wigan boss Owen Coyle back in August when he dismissed Callum McManaman in a 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth, a decision that home boss Eddie Howe thought was correct.

He's since twice sent off two players in one game. He dismissed Reading's Pavel Pogrebnyak and Leo Ulloa of Brighton in a 0-0 draw, and more recently Andy Butler of Walsall and Leyton Orient's Romain Vincelot were sent off in a 1-1 draw at Orient.

His most recent fixture, Coventry's 1-0 win at Stevenage in League One two weeks ago, saw three players yellow carded. They were Greg Tansey and Roarie Deacon of Stevenage and Coventry's Conor Thomas.

The assistant referees at Ipswich are Ryan Atkin (London) and Darren Blunden (Kent). The fourth official is Dan Robathan (Surrey).
