Former goalkeeper is guest

A goalkeeper who was at both Burnley and tonight's opponents Barnsley is the special guest tonight when the teams meet at Turf Moor. Chris Pearce was Burnley's regular goalkeeper from 1987 to 1991 and in his fifth season was in and out of the side as a stream of loan goalkeepers arrived. That fifth season ended in promotion from the fourth division and also signalled the end of his Burnley career. He'd previously played for a number of other clubs and that included a loan at Barnsley from Blackburn Rovers although he never played a first team game for the South Yorkshire club.He was a big crowd favourite at Burnley during his time, all of which was spent in the fourth division, and he became more so with his dancing which I'm sure the crowd will ask of him tonight. One of the signings made in the aftermath of the Orient game, he arrived from Wrexham for £4,000 and went on to make 234 appearances including one at Wembley in the Sherpa Van Trophy Final in 1988.Now aged 49, he's always a popular figure on his returns to Turf Moor.
