Flood hails Howe appointment

Burnley operational director Brendan Flood believes the club have pulled off a significant coup in appointing Eddie Howe as the club's new manager. Howe, 33, was unveiled as successor to Brian Laws on a three-and-a-half year deal on Monday after a hugely successful spell at Bournemouth. He led the Cherries from the depths of League Two to League One promotion contenders and Flood has backed him to have a similar effect on Burnley. Flood said: "Eddie is much sought-after and highly regarded in the game, so I feel we have done particularly well to attract him. "The fact Eddie has come up north shows a commitment to what he believes could be a great career move for him and his team. "They have very innovative ideas and they will be working in different player recruitment circles, which will open new opportunities for us as a football club."
