Fletcher set to be SCAN'd by Stockport
Wes Fletcher has completed his loan move to Stockport today and could be one of the players who creates a little bit of football history as the League Two club launch their new SCAN system. Fletcher has done well this season in reserve team football. He's scored five times in our five games so far and after travelling to Singapore with the first team he's since made a first team debut as a late substitute in the Carling Cup win at Morecambe.A number of clubs were keen to take him on loan but it is Paul Simpson's Stockport who have won the day."We had a mad rush of clubs looking at Wes Fletcher, but we felt Stockport was the best option," Brian Laws said after the paper work had been completed on the month's loan. "I know the manager, Paul Simpson, really well and I know he wants to play good football and will encourage and coach Wes in the right manner."Wes is ready for this and we have high hopes for him because we feel he can score goals. Fingers crossed he will do that for Stockport and everyone benefits."Stockport have used more players than any other club in league football and have introduced a numbering scheme called Stockport County Appearance Number (SCAN) which will be launched tomorrow, becoming the first English club to introduce such a system. It will be similar to the system used by the England cricket team with every player to have played for the club, currently 1,284, being given a unique number. Wes, should he get into the first team, could get number 1,285 and Stockport have applied to the Football League and FA for permission to have those numbers on the shirts.
