Fletcher makes County switch

Wes Fletcher has become the third Burnley player to leave the club on loan in the past 24 hours having tied up a switch to Stockport. The 20-year-old striker, who made his first-team debut for the Clarets as a substitute in the Carling Cup back in August, has attracted a host of interest due to his fine goalscoring performances for the reserves this term. As a result there were no shortage of takers and it is Stockport who have won the race for his signature, with Fletcher switching to Edgeley Park for an initial month-long spell. He joins Kevin McDonald and Kevin Long who have joined Scunthorpe and Accrington on loan respectively. Burnley boss Brian Laws said: "We had a mad rush of clubs looking at Wes Fletcher but we felt Stockport was the best option. "I know the manager, Paul Simpson, really well and I know he wants to play good football and will encourage and coach Wes in the right manner. "Wes is ready for this and we have high hopes for him because we feel he can score goals. Fingers crossed he will do that for Stockport and everyone benefits."
