Fletcher aims to emulate Rodriguez rise

Rookie Burnley striker Wes Fletcher is using Jay Rodriguez's rise through the ranks as inspiration for his own fledgling career.[LNB] Fletcher's double in the 2-0 reserve win at Preston on Wednesday took his total for the season to five in four games in the totesport.com league.[LNB]The 20-year-old has watched on in admiration at Rodriguez's emergence as a key figure in Brian Laws' senior squad and wants to replicate his close friend's success.[LNB]He said: "My aim is to be permanently with the first team and Jay is a good example.[LNB]"He's starting every game now and hopefully I can follow in his footsteps and get playing up there with him.[LNB]"I've just got to keep going, get stronger and keep working on the areas of my game I need to improve on."[LNB]
