Fleetwood boss Mellon is last guest of the season

Ex-Claret Micky Mellon has a busy weekend ahead of him. His Fleetwood team take on AFC Wimbledon tonight in the first leg of their Blue Square Premier League play off semi-final and tomorrow he'll be back at Turf Moor. Mellon was with the Clarets for just over two years as a player. He signed from Tranmere in January 1999 in a £350,000 deal and returned to Prenton Park on a free in March 2001.During his time at Burnley he played in 93 games including the last game of the 1999/2000 season at Scunthorpe when he scored our first goal, the equaliser, in a 2-1 win that clinched promotion under Stan Ternent. He ended his playing career with Kidderminster and returned to Turf Moor for a while as a coach within the centre of excellence but left when offered the job of managing Fleetwood. He's taken them to the play offs and at the time of writing they are potentially just three games from a Football League place.Mellon will tomorrow be our last half time draw guest of the season and, who knows, he could be back next season as a manager should they get promoted and maybe draw us in the Carling Cup.
