Ferguson: Ref's no Friend of mine

Preston boss Darren Ferguson pointed an accusing finger at referee Kevin Friend after Burnley edged a thrilling derby clash 4-3 at Turf Moor.[LNB] Ferguson saw his men establish a 3-1 lead after 70 minutes of Saturday's Championship match as Jon Parkin added to earlier goals from Adam Barton and Keith Treacy.[LNB]But Chris Iwelumo, who opened the scoring, netted twice more in the closing stages after Billy Jones' dismissal to complete his hat-trick before substitute Jay Rodriguez headed home the winner.[LNB]Ferguson fumed: "The referee has done as much as he can to win the game for Burnley. The sending-off was a disgrace - never in my life have I seen a sending-off like that. The only think I was thinking at 3-1 was that it could have been more.[LNB]"But even with 10 men you don't expect to lose a game from there. All credit to Iwelumo though for his hat-trick, it was a great strike to get them back in it.[LNB]"We were in control of the game and I was disappointed it was only two at half-time. In terms of football there's only one team that's played today but we've got nothing out of it.[LNB]"There's a very disappointed dressing room. That's four defeats for the season now; I don't know how we've lost that many because we don't deserve it.[LNB]"Burnley can count themselves extremely lucky to get anything out of the game. It's a cruel one."[LNB]Burnley manager Brian Laws said: "I've definitely got a few more grey hairs now. But what a derby it was; it certainly had everything. There was plenty of passion, tackles going in and both sides gave it a go.[LNB]"There's always turning points in a game and that red card could certainly have been a turning point in this fixture.[LNB]"In the first half we weren't anywhere near where we should have been. We were giving the ball away too often but in the second half we stepped it up. Maybe they've taken the foot off the gas at 3-1 but you can't do that in games like these.[LNB]"We started being more creative and we've won the game through it. It's not about how you start, it's how you finish.[LNB]"It was a great hat-trick from Chris but there's till too many negatives for me to be able to dismiss them. We've still got a lot of work to do."
