FA chiefs to probe missile launch

Kirkland was hit by an object, believed to be a coin, thrown from the away section during Wigan's Premier League clash at home to Burnley.[LNB]The FA will speak to referee Mike Jones and his officials after reading his report and both clubs will be contacted for their observations.[LNB]A spokesman said: "The first priority from our point of view would be ensuring any individual responsible was identified and we would like to see anyone found guilty of coin-throwing to be banned from attending football matches in this country.[LNB]"We are working with the clubs and the police to ensure this happens."[LNB]Kirkland was struck on the top of the head in the 53rd minute of the contest, which was won 1-0 by Wigan with an injury-time Hugo Rodallega goal.[LNB]Play was held up for a period as the 28-year-old received treatment.[LNB]Neither club have yet commented officially on the incident, other than to say it is being dealt with by police.[LNB][LNB] Man.
