Ex-Clarets win caps
Jack Cork featured in today's England Under-21 game against Romania but the only Burnley connections in tonight's full internationals were three ex-Clarets who played for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Hungary. Gabor Kiraly - won his 78th capKyle Lafferty was back in the starting line up for Northern Ireland's game this afternoon against the Faroe Islands in Toftir. It was his first international start in three games and was his 26th cap in total. He scored their equaliser in a 1-1 draw, his eighth goal for his country.At Hampden Park tonight, Chris Iwelumo missed out for Scotland whilst Steven Fletcher was an unused sub as Scotland lost 3-2 against reigning world champions Spain. But there was an ex-Claret in the starting line up in Phil Bardsley now with Sunderland.Although born in Salford he qualifies for Scotland through his father's side of the family and came into the side when Alan Hutton was ruled out with injury.There was one more former Burnley player on duty tonight, and the most experienced international ever to play for the club in terms of caps won. Gabor Kiraly has re-established himself as Hungary's number one since starting to play regular first team football again and tonight helped his country to a 2-1 win in Finland.Kiraly made his international debut in March 1998, and despite not playing a single game between October 2006 and November 2009 he has now reached 78 caps for his country which include five this season, the friendly against England at Wembley in August and their four more recent European qualifiers.The INTERNATIONALS section of the site has now been updated.
