Everton in for Jay Rod

That's the news from Alan Nixon this morning in the Daily Mirror, reporting that David Moyes is making a frantic last gasp bid to snatch him from Southampton.

He's reported that Moyes would like Jay to stall on agreeing to a move to the south coast and consider a move to Goodison where he would like to partner him with Nikica Jelavic.

The report suggests that Jay would favour a stay in the North West but with Everton set to offer less than the figure we've accepted from Southampton it would not be good news for the Clarets.

Southampton certainly thought they'd got their man twelve months after they'd first bid for him but it no longer looks cut and dried. Could he prefer a move to Everton? Could other clubs still show more than a passing interest?
