England call for young goalkeeper King

16 September 2013 16:08
It's not often Burnley have players called up by England but today it is congratulations to 14-year-old Connor King who has been selected for England schoolboys for their Victory Shield game against Wales next month.

Connor is currently the under-15 goalkeeper at Burnley. He's in his third season with the club and a few weeks ago was invited to a training camp for the schoolboys team. That's led to this call up for the team which is coached by Kenny Swain.

He will compete with Millwall's Ryan Sandford for the goalkeeper's berth for this game against Wales which will be played at Aggborough, home of Kidderminster, on Friday 4th October.

The game will be screened live on Sky Sports 2.

From everyone involved with Clarets Mad I'd like to send congratulations to Connor and wish him the very best in what I hope will be the first of many appearances for England.
