Elliott: Turf Moor is a bear pit

The Cottagers visit on Saturday and 30-year-old Elliott is looking forward to some more home comforts.[LNB]Sixteen of Burnley's 17 points in the Premier League have come on their own intimidating patch.[LNB]Elliott said: "It is a cold, noisy ground and a bit of a bear pit at times. The crowd are brilliant and get right behind us.[LNB]"The fans realise what a big part they have to play as well. For whatever reason the atmosphere seems to bring the best out of us.[LNB]"They also realise we are a group of hardworking, honest lads, who go out every week and give their best.[LNB]"We all appreciate being in this league and want to hang around. I do not think any one of us has proved yet we are Premiership players. But we have shown we are capable of competing against the very best.[LNB]"Those early victories (against Manchester United and Everton) gave us a belief. If we had gone a long time without a win maybe we'd have started thinking we were out of our depth.[LNB]"I don't think anyone comes here unaware anymore. They come expecting a tough game and we have to make sure we don't disappoint them."[LNB]While Burnley's home form compares with the best, they have taken only one point from a possible 24 on the road.[LNB]Manager Owen Coyle has also seen his side's form dip with only one win achieved in the last seven matches.[LNB]Elliott, who arrived in the top flight via non-league Bashley and Bournemouth, remains upbeat.[LNB]He said: "It is a little bit of a blip, that's all. If you step back and look at the bigger picture we are still in a relatively healthy position.[LNB]"It is important we do not get too downhearted. It is a tough league but we have enough faith in our ability. We just need to be a bit more ruthless."[LNB]Skipper Stephen Caldwell is available to face Fulham after sitting out the defeat by Portsmouth through suspension.[LNB]On-loan striker David Nugent also comes into contention after he missed the match against his parent club under Premier League rules.[LNB]Coyle has spoken of his admiration for Fulham counterpart Roy Hodgson as the clubs prepare to meet.[LNB]Coyle said: "Roy Hodgson is doing a magnificent job and has some quality players to call on. He is a fine example for all aspiring managers like myself."[LNB]Burnley have lost only once at home in the league, but Coyle added a note of caution.[LNB]"While we are delighted every time we step out at Turf Moor, we will need to play to our maximum to beat Fulham," he said.[LNB][LNB] Burnley v Fulham.
