Burnley boss Owen Coyle has made Newcastle United defender David Edgar his third signing of the week.

The 22-year-old has agreed a four-year deal at Turf Moor after making 23 appearances for the Magpies in the last three seasons.

Edgar left Canada at the age of 14 after winning a scholarship with the Newcastle United academy.

He represented his country at Under-20 level and was a reserve team regular for the Magpies before making his debut for the first team on Boxing Day 2006.

Coyle had already announced the captures of Tyrone Mears and Steven Fletcher this week as he continues to prepare for life in the Premier League.
