Edgar stars but another defeat for Canada

Canada went into their second, and most difficult, CONCACAF Gold Cup game in what were the early hours of the morning for us and fell to a second consecutive defeat, this time against group favourites Mexico.

They suffered that shock defeat on Monday against Martinique and weren't given much hope in this game and so it proved, but this was by some distance a better performance from the Canadians with Edgar in excellent form.

However, they were beaten 2-0 at the CenturyLink Field in Seattle with a goal in each half. Raúl Jiminéz opened the scoring for Mexico three minutes before half time and that lead was doubled on 57 minutes when Marco Fabián converted a penalty.

Canada will complete their group games before leaving the competition with a game against current group leaders Panama who have won their two games against Mexico and Martinique who in turn both have three points from their wins against Canada.

For Edgar, this game was cap number 19 and his INTERNATIONALS page has been updated.
