Eckersley agrees Clarets deal

Burnley have completed the signing of Manchester United defender Richard Eckersley.

The 20-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with the newly-promoted Premier League side after turning down a new deal at Old Trafford.

The Clarets must now agree a compensation fee with United due to the out-of-contract player's age.

The Salford-born defender made just two first-team appearances for the Red Devils.

Eckersley is the fifth new player to arrive at Turf Moor following the club's success in last season's Championship play-off final.

Manager Owen Coyle has already snapped up striker Steven Fletcher and defensive trio David Edgar, Tyrone Mears and Brian Easton.
