Eagles to fly to Clarets` aid

Burnley boss Brian Laws could be boosted by the return of winger Chris Eagles for the trip to high-flying Cardiff. Eagles has missed the Clarets' last two games with a back problem but looks set to return against the Bluebirds. Striker Martin Paterson is rated doubtful with a Boxing Day return at Barnsley looking more likely as he bids to shake off a troublesome thigh problem which has kept him out for four games. Left-back Danny Fox is working his way back to fitness after an ankle injury which has also kept him out for four games. Yet Brian Easton has proved a capable deputy in Fox`s absence and Laws said: "There is a real contest unfolding in that position."
