Chris Eagles agreed a new two year contract with the Clarets on Tuesday and this afternoon has signed on the dotted line to commit himself to the club until the end of the 2011/12 season. Eagles said after signing the deal: "I wouldn't have signed if I didn't think Burnley could get back into the Premier League. I love it here and the players we have got have got the talent to go back there."I have been here for two years and had a brilliant time and with the squad we've got here I believe we can do it again."Eagles was signed in the summer of 2008 on a three year deal, making his competitive debut for the club on the opening day of the 2008/09 season at Sheffield Wednesday, a club he'd previously played for on loan.He scored some crucial goals during the promotion season, although struggled to find the net last season. There was a lot of speculation that he might move on, quashed by this new contract, and he is one of fourteen players now in the squad who have signed contracts with Burnley since the appointment of Brian Laws as manager.
