Eagles pips Fletcher to title
Despite collecting points in two of the last three games of the season against Liverpool and Birmingham, Steven Fletcher has been narrowly beaten to the Clarets Mad Player of the Year Award by Chris Eagles. Chris Eagles - Clarets Mad Player of the Year 2009/10Eagles looked to be well on the way to the title but Fletcher came back with outstanding performances against Liverpool and Birmingham, and then came very close to picking up points in the last game of the season against Spurs.Our last update was after the 2-1 defeat at Sunderland and even more prominent than Fletcher in the last three games were loan midfielder Jack Cork and Martin Paterson with Cork getting maximums in the first two of those games.Again Liverpool he was man of the match with 44.5% of the vote. Fletcher came second with 15.5% whilst Michael Duff took third place with 10.4% of the vote. In the player ratings, it was the same top two. Cork won it with a rating of 7.88 out of 10, Fletcher was second with 7.48 and Paterson took third place with a rating of 7.32 out of 10.In the last away game at Birmingham it was again Cork as top man. He claimed 41.3% of the man of the match vote with Paterson in second place with 16.1% and Fletcher winning 14.2% of the vote to take third place. Cork's player rating was 7.86 and behind him were Fletcher (7.23) and Paterson (7.18).The comeback against Spurs saw Paterson claiming a maximum. He polled 40.0% of the man of the match vote. Again Cork was in the points with 20.9% taking second place whilst Andre Bikey finished third with 20.7% of the vote.Paterson's player rating of 8.53 was enough to see him take first place there too.
