Chris Eagles has well and truly closed the gap at the top of the Clarets Mad Player of the Year Table and is now just two points behind central defender Andre Bikey following the 4-0 home win against Hull. Bikey got the season off to a storming start but Eagles is bang in form right now and his two goals against Hull, including one from the penalty spot, along with another top performance from him, saw him pip Jack Cork to both the man of the match and top place in the player ratings. He polled 45.3% of the man of the match vote to give him top place ahead of Cork whose share of the vote was 35.5%. Tyrone Mears, picking up his first point of the season, edged above fellow full back Danny Fox to take third place with 5% of the vote. The gap between the top two in the player ratings was narrow. Eagles was again the winner with a rating of 8.68 out of 10 and Cork was right behind, and his rating was 8.60. Again the two full backs were close but both missed out on the points here with Chris Iwelumo, who also scored twice, taking third place with a rating of 7.96 out of 10.The six points won by Eagles now see him right on the tail of Bikey with Cork closing in too in third place.Voting is currently in progress for the Millwall game man of the match. This is on the front page of the site and will run until the end of Tuesday. Wednesday to Friday will then see the poll for the September Goal of the Month.Clarets Mad Player of the Year Table30: Andre Bikey28: Chris Eagles22: Jack Cork14: Clarke Carlisle13: Chris Iwelumo10: Wade Elliott4: Brian Jensen3: Jay Rodriguez2: Steven Thompson & Ross Wallace1: Graham Alexander, Leon Cort, Danny Fox, Dean Marney & Tyrone Mears
