Burnley are set to name Sean Dyche as their new manager on Tuesday.

The Clarets have been without a manager since Eddie Howe returned to Bournemouth due to family reasons earlier this month. Youth team coach Terry Pashley took over as caretaker boss and led the npower Championship side to two consecutive wins before a 4-0 weekend loss at leaders Cardiff.

According to various reports Dyche attended the game as a guest of Cardiff manager Malky Mackay, whom he worked under at Watford. And Press Association Sport understands the 41-year-old is due to arrive in Burnley on Monday for a tour of the club's facilities before signing as manager on Tuesday.

He will be accompanied by former Nottingham Forest midfielder Ian Woan, who served as his assistant at Watford last season.

Dyche impressed in his first league management role at Vicarage Road, leading the Hornets away from relegation trouble and to an 11th-placed finish - their highest for four seasons.

But he was controversially dismissed to make way for Gianfranco Zola this summer after Watford were taken over by the Pozzo family.

Last month Dyche took up a role on the England Under-21s coaching staff under boss Stuart Pearce.

Burnley currently lie 14th in the Championship table, with 17 points from 13 matches.
