Central defender Shane Duffy has returned to Everton at the end of his loan but manager Eddie Howe has not ruled out the possibility of him returning to Turf Moor next season. Duffy went straight into the side for the home game against Ipswich but was left out the following week at Leicester and has now returned to Goodison Park having made just that one appearance for the Clarets. However, Eddie Howe has explained that Duffy could come back. He said: "I thought he did okay against Ipswich in his game but we just felt we would go with the experience of Michael and Andre and they have done well together since."We've got Clarke, who came on tonight and did well, and we've also got David Edgar behind the scenes, so I think we're quite well off for centre-halves."As I said when I took him, part of the reason was to look long term with Shane. We will wait and see how pre-season goes for him and what his options are and how Everton feel, but he's done himself no harm. He goes back with our best wishes."
