Donny boss rues sloppy defending

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll was left a little disappointed by his side's defending during their 1-1 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor.[LNB] The Clarets fell behind in the 13th minute of Tuesday night's Championship clash when Jack Cork turned James Coppinger's cross against his own post and James Hayter tapped in the rebound.[LNB]Chris Eagles then saw a spot-kick saved by Neil Sullivan after Dean Shiels handled in the box.[LNB]Burnley levelled in the 63rd minute as Cork stooped to head home an equaliser, but neither side really threatened a winner.[LNB]"Their goal was a little disappointing," said O'Driscoll.[LNB]"They opened us up on one or two occasions with some good football. The two centre-halves could have dealt with Chris Iwelumo better in the build-up and then we gave a cheap corner away.[LNB]"Corners and free-kicks are going to give anyone in this league trouble; we could have scored from a couple of our own.[LNB]"The first half was a basketball game, as soon as we broke up one of their attacks we looked like we'd score, and the same for them."[LNB]Sullivan's penalty save was just one of a number of impressive stops he made on the night.[LNB]The veteran was called into action just 20 seconds in when he got down well to deny Wade Elliott one-on-one, and that set the tone for the night.[LNB]"It's the first penalty save he's made," O'Driscoll added.[LNB]"I thought it was a bit harsh. I felt that maybe the one earlier where Wayne Thomas handled it - you wouldn't have complained about that.[LNB]"He's got good experience, so he doesn't get flustered with anything."[LNB]Both sides had chances to win the game and perhaps Rovers' best came when John Oster let fly from 25 yards with an angled drive which Lee Grant expertly tipped round the post.[LNB]O'Driscoll added: "To win it we had to tighten up a little and our possession wasn't good enough.[LNB]"It's a difficult place to come. At times we did really well and at times we were naive.[LNB]"Overall we ticked a lot of boxes, but not enough for me."[LNB]Burnley boss Brian Laws was left to rue his side's missed opportunities as they were held to their third consecutive draw and their seventh in 10 fixtures.[LNB]"In the first half in particular we could have won three games," he said.[LNB]"We had more than enough chances to have won this one game in particular.[LNB]"They scored against the run of play and a little bit of it was down to our own doing.[LNB]"All credit to the players, they went right back at them and on a better day we could have had five."[LNB]One of those missed chances was Eagles' 37th-minute penalty - with regular taker Graham Alexander looking on from the bench.[LNB]Laws added: "It was a frustrating night and there's not a lot wrong other than finishing them off.[LNB]"If I was going to be critical I'd say we have to be clinical in front of goal.[LNB]"There won't be many games where we have so many gilt-edged opportunities and we won't take them."
