Disappointments spur Coyle on

The Clarets currently occupy the final play-off place in the Championship but lost 3-1 at Cardiff on Monday and are coming under pressure from the chasing Swansea and Preston. But Coyle believes that the defeats that his side have suffered this campaign - including their dramatic Carling Cup Semi-Final loss to Tottenham - can help them get over the finish line. "We have to take strength and resilience from when things go against you and know that you've got the character within your make-up to bounce back and be stronger for it, and be better for it," he told the Lancashire Telegraph. "I think we've done that." The former Bolton striker is also pleased that his side's plight remain in their own hands and he is confident that they can see the job through. "We know what we have to do," he said. "It's in our own hands. We have to make sure we go and keep delivering on our performances, and if we do that we'll get the results to back it up."
