Aston Villa's England Under-21 international Nathan Delfouneso has joined Burnley on loan until the end of the season as we fill one of the gaps left by the injuries to Martin Paterson, Steven Thompson and Charlie Austin. The 20-year-old product of the youth academy at Villa is on the fringes of the first team at Villa Park and has made occasional appearances since making his debut in the 2008/09 season in the UEFA Cup.His first goal in the Premier League came in Villa's 2-1 win against Portsmouth at Fratton Park last April and in November 2010 he finally got his first Premier League start at Fulham. That, and another four days later in a home defeat against Blackpool have been his only starts in the top flight. He played in Villa's FA Cup exit at Manchester City last week but manager Gerrard Houllier has now allowed him to join us on loan, a move that will benefit all. We'll get the extra striker option, the player will get some games and that experience will benefit Villa when he returns there at the end of the season.Despite his lack of first team experience he's already won both the fans and players young player of the year awards at Villa in both the 2007/08 and 2009/10 seasons and is very highly thought of. He's also played for England at Under-16, Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 levels. Now with Burnley for the rest of the season he'll be in Eddie Howe's squad for tonight's game at Hull.
