Dean West goes back to Lincoln

Former Burnley right-back Dean West has had two spells with Lincoln City and is now returning to the city to play non-league football after leaving Corby Town. Dean, or Fred as he was known at Burnley, has signed for Lincoln Moorland Railway who play their football in the Koolsport Northern Counties East League Premier Division and will go straight into their squad for the away game this Saturday against Nostell Miners Welfare.Railway boss Chris Moyses said on completing the signing: "Dean has signed for the club and he is a good addition for Lincoln Moorlands. He has a wealth of experience and signifies what we are trying to do at the club. We are trying to do things right."West, now aged 38, joined Burnley from Bury on a Bosman in the summer of 1999 and was a regular in the team during the promotion season. He hardly featured in the following season with Paul Weller preferred in a wing-back role but won his place back for the 2001/02 season.He went on to play a total of 178 games for Burnley before being released at the end of the 2003/04 having played for the club for five years.He started his career with Lincoln City and returned there after leaving Burnley before moving on to Boston United and King's Lynn before playing for Corby.He now joins a team who are currently fifth in their league.
